What to Wear on Video: Part 1
I thought you might be interested in the blog post, "What to Wear on Video: Part 1" that I just posted on my own, personal blog:
Since I’ve started to shoot video of myself — and given that my new company, Ziggeo, is all about taking video of yourself — I figured it would be useful to study up on what to wear on video. Here’s what I’ve found:
Patterns
-No surprise: Don’t wear large patterns or geometric shapes which will distract your viewer.
-Interesting: Don’t wear clothes with tight patters such as checks, houndstooth or pinstripes. They create an optical illusion that doesn’t look good on video.
-Note: solids are slimming; bold patterns are not.
Colors
-No surprise: Avoid wearing bright colors such as orange, red, hot pink, purple and green.
-Interesting: Avoid wearing black and white
All these colors cause problems on viideo
-Best: cool blues (e.g. royal blue), natural tones (off-white, beige), and pastels. If you wear a bright white shirt, you should wear a darker jacket over it.
Note: darker colors are slimming; light colors are not.
I suppose my black and white houndstooth dress will have to stay in my closet for now.
