Ziggeo Launches The Smartest Video Transcoder

Ziggeo has launched the Smartest Video Transcoder as its own product. Here’s what makes Ziggeo’s transcoder so smart: Ziggeo makes those complicated settings found on other transcoders super simple. That is, other transcoders require settings be explicitly configured, e.g. the extent to which videos should be cropped or padded. This is particularly complicated when videos of different aspect ratios are submitted. Here’s an example: my community is submitting videos I need transcoded to 640x480 — the standard resolution. The user-generated input videos I receive will have a variety of different resolutions. Let’s say the source video is 800x600, the video would need to be shrunk to 640x450, then add 15 pixels of a black bar at the top and 15 pixels of a black bar at the bottom to end up with 640x480. Rules would need to be written for every possible incoming source video resolution that you would expect. And that could be hundreds of special cases. Ziggeo's transcoder has smart, automatic settings. That is, you can program the transcoder to automatically determine the correct parameters so that all target videos have your programmed aspect ratio in the stipulated resolution. To do this, you can specify whether you want videos to be cut to size so no black bars appear — or whether you want them padded (i.e. black bars on the left/right or top/bottom depending on the source aspect ratio. It’s up to Ziggeo to automatically apply your parameters to the videos. So instead of your needing to calculate what works on a per-video basis Ziggeo takes care of the work for you. And that’s what makes the Ziggeo’s Video Transcoder the Smartest Transcoder out there.
