Video Hack Day 3: A Roaring Success

What an amazing day! With over 100 hackers, 19 submissions, inspiring keynotes and wonderful food, it was a hugely successful day. We couldn’t be happier how the 3rd year of our organizing this event turned out. The Grand Prize Winner, Vimage, created a hack that let a pre-recorded video magically appear on a paper greeting card by holding up a phone. It used a combination of AR together with Ziggeo’s API. Ziggeo’s Prize went to PicMeUp which lets you record videos of affirmations. You can then play them back when you need them (e.g. for when you may have a job interview) — or send them to friends for their time in need. All prize winners can be seen here on DevPost. For those of you who attended the event (apologies for those who were waitlisted) — hope you had as much fun as we did. We'd love your feedback. Would be great if you could shoot us a note. Many thanks to all our sponsors: to Tokbox for co-hosting the event, General Assembly for providing the space and to our other sponsors as well:BetaJS · Wolf Greenfield · Gunderson Dettmer · Livestream · Clarifai · JWPlayer · Switchboard Live · Odd Networks · Internet Video Archive · Cloudflare · Twilio · Radix · AWS - and to Hint for the yummy drinks. Finally, thanks to all the hackers who created such amazing hacks. We were thrilled how inclusive the event turned out to be.
