A Hackathon for Grown Ups
Last month Ziggeo organized Video Hack Day dubbed "a hackathon for Grown-ups." Sponsored by Google and held at General Assembly in NYC, attendees called it "the
best hackathon" they ever attended.
Here's how we did it:
- No overnights: it was a one day Hackathon that started in the morning and ended that same evening. That meant: --everyone could get sleep-- no macho showing of staying up all night --attendees were away from home just one day, back in time for Mother's Day (the following day) --sponsors and API providers stayed basically the entire time to answer any questions
- A "no pizza" hackathon: we made sure to serve healthy, delicious food starting with freshly made egg sandwiches and ending with fresh Mexican food delivered from a local restaurant.
- Grown up prizes: including a Social Impact prize that donated $250 to the recipient's favorite charity (in addition to a special Mother's Day prize)
