Best Way to Train Students for their Job Interview: Practice Videos

A little known tool for training students for their job interviews is to use video.  Rather than simply coaching students one on one -- or doing live mock interviews -- schools can start to incorporate video into their training.

How does it work?  A school opens screening rooms associated with typical jobs students are applying to.  For instance, one screening room may be for a job at an investment bank, another screening room  for a position at a media company, and so on. Once the screening rooms are set up, a simple link associated with the particular mock position can be sent or posted for students.  Students click on the link and then record themselves answering the questions they see on the screen.  They can record themselves using their desktops, laptops, mobile devices or any IOS device. When they hit submit, the videos are sent directly to the screening room where school counselors (or alumni) can review them and give the students immediate feedback.  With this feedback, students can then try again (and again) until their pitches are, well, pitch perfect.
