Capturing Event Videos Leads to Higher Social Engagement, Happier Sponsors and Successful Future Events

Organizers of events around the world are capturing videos from attendees -- whether they're recording what's happening at the event itself, feedback on video or video testimonials. Here's how they're doing it:
  • They're asking attendees to record videos from their phones and submit the videos directly to the organizers (via a button or link)
  • Organizers ask its volunteers to record videos of the event from their phones
  • Professional videos are taken and uploaded together with the user-generated videos
Here's why it's smart:
  • Organizers use videos to tweet out or post on Facebook what's happening at the event at a particular moment in time (which increases social engagement);
  • Organizers post selected videos to promote future events;
  • Organizers use feedback to improve on upcoming events;
  • Organizers use videos to demonstrate to sponsors the effectiveness of their sponsorship and how high an event is valued by attendees
Video happenings clearly need to be captured at the event itself. But video testimonials can be captured:
  • At the event by someone roving with a camera or on site in a corner or booth
  • Following the event a link can be sent to attendees who can record videos via their phone or laptop
Note that the exuberance and excitement of the event is best captured at the event itself. Here's a snapshot of audience members recording videos at Women in Tech: It's Time for Disruption, a recent event at Microsoft in New York City. Disrupt
