Data Day: Candidates Who Write More Messages to Interviewers Than They Receive Fare Worse

According to Ziggeo’s Data Chart (posted at the end of this text), the candidate who writes more messages to the interviewer than he or she receives from the interviewer tends to get lower ratings.

In other words, candidates should make sure that the number of messages they write to the interviewer is on par with -- or fewer than -- the number of messages candidates receive from the interviewer.

How could this data be interpreted? It’s possible that candidates who write messages to interviewers that are unbidden (that include for instance additional information not submitted in the original application or an excuse why a particular piece of information or video is missing) could be viewed as disorganized or simply weak candidates.

From this data, it seems it’s best for candidates to simply respond to messages sent by the interviewer -- or to send at least an equal number of messages to the interviewer.  Multiple unbidden contact with the interviewer is definitely not recommended.

DATA CHART

  • 5 Stars : 35% / 35% / 30%
  • 4 Stars: 53% / 38% / 9%
  • 3 Stars: 62% / 23% / 15%
  • 2 Stars: 91% / 7% /  2%
  • 1 Star: 93% / 3% / 4%

The Data Chart should be read as follows:

  • Column 1 = Rating of candidate
  • Column 2 = percentage of candidates who write more messages than the interviewer
  • Column 3 = percentage of candidates who write fewer messages than the interviewer
  • Column 4 = percentage of candidates who write as many messages as the interviewer

Ziggeo lets you quickly and easily pre-screen candidates by watching their videos. Candidates simply record short videos of themselves for your own private viewing.
