Orientation that works for you, in this big world of video

Are you looking to have your videos recorded in a specific orientation? Not only looking how the device is being held, rather how video is oriented as well? Well we have something new coming your way, so read on to find out more about the same.

We already had the parameter named orientation that allowed you to choose from portrait or landscape orientation. This worked great to make sure the mobile device is held in right way.

This is all great and it works for a very large number of people, however there are few cases where it did not. It is always interesting to find out that you do something and there are people that change that one setting on their phone and it all works differently for them. If you are thinking locked orientation, you are correct.

Anyone that locked their orientation could still make it seems as if the orientation is portrait while they in fact turned the phone into landscape mode.

The new parameter

We have just included media-orientation parameter to assist further. While the orientation looks towards to the orientation of the device, the media-orientation will instead look for the orientation of the media.

This way your video that is being recorded needs to be in specific orientation. If it is not, there will be a message shown to the person recording the video within recorder.

The message would be in the following format:

Media resolution should be in portrait mode.

or as:

Media resolution should be in landscape mode.

What you should do

If you are already using orientation parameter you might want to look into the media-orientation parameter as well. It could add additional benefit for you.

If you are not really looking to force the orientation in any way, you can just celebrate with us another great feature that we have released.
