Pre-Recorded Video Interviews Saves Candidates Time

Whenever we discuss the value of pre-recorded interviews, the first reaction is likely to be how much of a time-saver it is for interviewers.  

What's rarely discussed and is in fact just as important, is how much of a time-saver pre-recorded videos can be for candidates.  Every time a candidate is called in for an interview, it's hours in a day taken away from focusing on other job opportunities or activities.  Particularly for those candidates who have no shot at landing a particular job which may be easily detected in a pre-recorded interview, time spent traveling to and from the interview, waiting for the interview, and in the interview itself could be better served pursuing other jobs that may be a better fit.

That said, our advice to candidates is to grab any opportunity for an in-person interview; you never know what could come out of it.   But our advice for interviewers: spare yourself and your candidates by conducting pre-recorded interviews.  You'll have a better shot at spending your valuable time with those who are likely to be the best fit for the job.  And ask those non-negotiable questions that candidates need to answer on video -- those questions will let you quickly determine who -- and who not to -- call in for an interview.
