The Benefit of Ziggeo’s Tech in HR / Recruiting
Ziggeo's SaaS solution has transformed HR/Recruiting for hundreds of platforms and businesses. Union Square Ventures (USV) used Ziggeo's API to create an open source video recruiting tool. Here’s what they discovered were the benefits of capturing candidate videos:
- Recorded video lets hundreds — even thousands — of candidates for a particular position participate much more meaningfully in the interview process. They record videos in the first round of the interview process, and each candidate is asked the same question with the same amount of time to respond. As such, it levels the playing field with all candidates given the same chance and time frame to respond.
- Requiring all candidates to record videos creates a barrier to entry that ensures only the most interested and motivated candidates apply.
- Particularly with respect to positions in which oral presentations are key to the position, video tests how articulate a candidate is.
- In such open source recruitment tool, candidates can see questions in advance and are able to rehearse answers. As such, partners can test commitment to preparation and presentation -- both key components to any particular position. Of course, with Ziggeo’s technology, a different process can easily be constructed whereby questions are only seen once the recording begins.
- By watching a few seconds of a candidate's video (e.g. 20 seconds), those who are hiring can quickly determine if a candidate might be the right fit for the firm. And, as a result, in-person interviews are reserved for the most promising candidates. As such, time is spent more wisely.
- Since partners or hiring managers can quickly vet videos, the decision-making process has become more collaborative. Rather than being screened out by an HR manager, partners are able to view each submission, with multiple partners viewing those flagged as being the most promising.
In sum — and perhaps most compelling — as Andy Weissman, partner at USV explained: "Video gives me so much more insight than a cover letter or resume."
