Transcoding: Another Fine Mess

Video transcoding is a complicated business.  Here's why:

• Videos can be recorded in one of 20+ formats. To name a few, you can find them in: mov, fov, avi, mpg, wmv and mkv formats.
• Each format needs to be transcoded into an an mp4, webm and ogv format so they can be played across all devices and browsers
• Depending on your use case, videos may need to be transcoded to different resolutions (we have clients who've requested that each video be transcoded ito 10+ resolutions).

Maybe one day you won't have to worry about transcoding. But until then, in the words of Laurel and Hardy: "Well that's another fine mess you've gotten me into!"
