What’s the Difference Between Live Video and Asynchronous Recorded Video?

The difference between live video and asynchronous recorded video is quickly shrinking.  Live video is the exact simultaneous video recording between two people.  Skype, for instance, is an example of live video in action.  People can talk at the same time and even interrupt each other.

Recorded, asynchronous video, on the other hand requires that one person record his/her video and then submit the video so it can then be viewed.

That said, depending on the speed of transcoding, submitted videos can almost immediately be played back and viewed once submitted.  Because Ziggeo handles transcoding in-house -- and has developed a system whereby transcoding begins once a recording has begun, recorded videos can be viewed seconds after submission (depending on the length of videos). As such, submitted video messages, for instance, can simulate certain live video interactions.  And have the benefit of being able to be viewed on your own time.
