Which is Right For You?  A Live Video SDK or An Asynchronous Recorded Video SDK?

If you're building an app that requires video, you won't want to spend the time or money building the video in structure.  So you'll probably be turning to SDKs to give you the video component.

Now the question is whether a live video SDK is right for you or an asynchronous video recorded SDK. The answer is that it really depends on what you want to build.

Here's how we think about it: if the primary reason you need video is to have it be recorded and last (e.g. video messages that can be viewed at any time -- or videos that are recorded to last), then asynchronous video recorded SDK is right for you.

If you're goal is to have a live, in the moment video capture that doesn't necessarily need to be recorded -- or where the recorded piece is secondary, go for the live video SDK.

Remember though: live video technology and recorded video technology are completely different technologies.  So pick the use case most important to what you want to achieve. That will guide your choice of a live video sdk vs. an asynchronous, recorded video SDK.
