One benefit of pre-recorded video interviews that is rarely discussed is that it levels the playing field for all candidates.  That is, the vast majority of candidates never reach the stage where they are able to answer questions applicable to the open positions. Since only a few can be selected for actual in-person interviews or even interviews conducted by Skype, most candidates are not given the opportunity to speak up and explain why they're the best candidate for the position.

With pre-recorded video interviews, all candidates are able to participate in the first round of interviews. It's a much fairer way of conducting the interview process and gives each and every candidate a chance to prove herself.
